Dog People vs. Cat People

Many people have a favorite a dog or a cat. It seems you are ether a dog person or a cat person. Rarely have I found you are both a dog person and a cat person.

So what is the difference in my humble unscientific opinion. Cat people are comfortable with themselves and do not need compliments. They get home and are glad they have arrived. Dog people seem to want confirmation that what they do is noticed and gets recognized especially in their own personal space.

This is just my observation, yet let me explain. When you come home cats look up and may acknowledge you are home and maybe not. While dogs are so excited they act like you are the greatest human ever and they are so glad you are finally home. Dogs lavish you with attention and expect you to give them some in return. Cats on the other hand could care less. Feed them and they will allow you to pet them.

So if you want to come home and get a wonderful welcome get a dog and if you personally are comfortable just being home consider a cat.

How does this apply in the workplace you may ask. If you are looking for an independent person who can work on their own consider a cat person. If you are looking for a person who needs attention and feedback consider a dog person.

This theory is based on my own observations and I would value your feedback and comments.

What is the market potential?

What is the market potential? Such an obvious question yet one many companies forget to ask. You need to know your market potential before you consider your strategy.

Companies decide they want to be in a market. They decide they want to offer their product. They decide they can do it better, cheaper faster then anybody else etc.

Yet without understanding the market potential they do not know the value and cannot evaluate the ROI. Does the market need their product? Will it be competitively priced? What is the price point? Is it a better value then the competitors? Are the production costs in line with the pricing strategy? Does it solve a customers problem? Can they design, produce and ship it at a profit?

Ask why and be willing to accept NO!
